I too am mail order....I'm from radio and a news director liked my communication skills so much he hired me to present the weather...so I took the advice of the Chief Met and contacted MSU....Two years, hundreds of hours (and thousands of dollars) later I am close to my certification and NWA Seal...now I read this garbage form a bunch of people who can only complain...I'm not the problem because I did not take four years of atmospheric sciences - you are the problem because you cannot communicate your value to a news director...what can you bring to a news room if you cannot bring communications skills...there are many sides to the television business and you have to excel in all of them to be successful...if you want to rest solely on your academic background consider operational meteorology or teaching

Post Script: I will extend to anyone the same assistance the Meteorologists
of MSU have provided to off-campus students. I will answer any questions you
may have or provide a tape critique...if you are in the area I would be happy
to work with you on our stations chroma key wall...I believe the greatest use
of knowledge is to pass it on, not to belittle those who have not yet gained
it...
